Actually, Vienna is a European city and a federal region. To be precise, Vienna is the capital city of Austria and is located in Central Europe. Because Austria is small it is bordering with eight countries: Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Italy and Slovenia. Since Vienna is located in the Eastern part of Austria, some Eastern European cities are in fact closer to Vienna than other major Austrian cities.

At an area size of 414.87 square kilometers (157.65 square miles) Vienna is about as large as Cairo, Jaipur, or New Orleans.

To measure Vienna’s location geographically, the city is located at a latitude and longitude of 48.2082° N, 16.3738° E. To give you a perspective, this means Vienna is on roughly the same latitude as Baden Württemberg in Germany, Minnesota in the US, and Ontario in Canada.
