Vienna restaurant Motto

Vienna Restaurant Motto Review

Motto is THE place to go if you are up for design extravaganza. The cult bar and restaurant in Vienna’s trendy fifth district Margareten has been a meeting point of a diverse range of Viennese: from bourgeois to bohos, from celebrities to the guy down the street. All of them share the love for the unusual.

Restaurant Interiors

What I love most about Motto is its chilled but cozy atmosphere, its fantastic neo-baroque interiors, cool DJ music and not least its food.  The city’s ubiquitous baroque angels have been reinterpreted and literally grow out of ceiling and walls. You will sit pretty and very comfy on the velvety upholstered seats and the neobaroque chairs. And once you are exposed to that subtly illuminated plum colour scheme you just want to lift up your feet…

Food

The menu is as diverse as its audience. You can load your plate with traditional Alpine trout, lamb shanks, and Schinkenfleckerl (baked pasta) or go for more exotic dishes such as the rucola-mocca risotto. Whatever you choose, don’t leave without eating Motto’s  strawberry/nougat dumplings for dessert.

Vienna Restaurant Motto’s Sister

By the way: Motto’s success has been successfully replicated by a sister location at the Danube canal, with a similar eclectic cuisine, 50’s style interior with a modern twist, spacious and airy, and with beautiful views on the canal. The river terrace has become a hot spot in the summer.
