Luxury hotels in Vienna: Hotel Imperial

Luxury Hotels In Vienna 2024 – Essential Style Guide

Honestly, there is no shortage with luxury hotels in Vienna: In fact, it’s about your personal taste, and possibly price differences. In general, you can focus on two categories – the legendary Viennese hotels such as Hotel Sacher, and exquisite newcomers.

In order to kick start your search, I’ll share my shortlist of those luxury temples that are worth their money: from old world charm, tradition plus contemporary styles, to ultimate urban chic. If you click on the links you can compare betweenseveral hotel deals.

Legendary Luxury: Hotel Sacher Vienna

Hotel Sacher Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna?Without any doubt, Hotel Sacher is the most popular five star temple in town. Everything is legendary there, from the hotel itself, its famous cake, its own range of Vienna sausages to its fine café.

Since the hotel received a makeover the traditionally kept rooms and bathrooms feel fresh again. Although it is one of the priciest hotels, go for it if you want to treat someone for a special city break. Read more on theHotel Sacher Vienna;

Hotel Imperial Vienna

Luxury Hotels in Vienna: Hotel Imperial Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? If you want sheer opulence and be treated like an Emperor, there is no better place in Wien than the Imperial. Not only is Imperial part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection Hotels, it is also Austria’s official hotel for state visits. Specifically, you will love its lavish 19th century architecture, and the personal butler service.

Since the Imperial is close to top concert and opera venues, you can expect to rub shoulders with visiting conductors and opera singers. Once you are there, do tuck into the hotel’s signature cake Imperial Torte – the best cake in town as for my taste. Find out more in my Hotel Imperial Vienna review.

The Rosewood Vienna

Luxury Hotels in Vienna: Rosewood HotelWhy is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? Located in a 19th century landmark that also housed Mozart’s apartment where he wrote The Abduction from the Seraglio the Rosewood establishes contemporary luxury with 71 spacious guest rooms and 28 suites. I still knew the building as the former headquarters of the renowned financial institution Erste Group.

In addition, Rosewood’s repertoire includes an event pavilion, a spa area and an entire culinary floor where Austrian and European specialties are served. An adjacent terrace, a garden oasis and a rooftop bar with fancy cocktails and breathtaking views complete the experience.

The Ritz-Carlton Vienna

Luxury Hotels in Vienna: Ritz Carlton Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? In the light of its brand name, the Ritz Carlton isn’t stingy with luxury but how does it feel in Wien? Although far from Sacher or Imperial opulence, I’d fall simply for its subdued elegance. Overall, the beige loungers, wood panels, leather chairs, modern chandeliers and contemporary paintings blend well with the historic architecture.

Some suites, like the President’s Suite, boast original features like frescoes and coffered ceilings. Actually, the Ritz-Carlton is located in four connected historic palaces, all of them along the Ringstrasse boulevard. During the warmer months, make sure you visit the bar on the rooftop terrace. In addition, the indoor swimming pool is another big bonus.

Hotel Bristol Vienna

Hotel Bristol in Vienna Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? As Hotel Imperial, Hotel Bristol is also part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection hotels. Just slightly less bombastic, the Bristol has amazingly sumptuous suites and represents a top romantic city escape. Specifically opera fans love this place since the Vienna State Opera is right opposite.

If you have stayed at the Bristol before its facelift in 2013, you will be amazed about its fresh yet traditional interiors. As for culinary treats, the elegant restaurant ‘Bristol Lounge’ has turned into one of the top gourmeet spots in Wien.

Amauris Hotel Vienna

Luxury Hotels in Vienna: Hotel AmaurisWhy is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? “Explore Beauty” is the motto behind the Amauris hotel’s high-quality design. Using wood and marble the 19th-century building provides a stylish ambience in black, white, green, red and blue. Luckily, the local architects preserved the venerable staircase, the historic elevator, the artistic stucco in the high rooms and of course the elegant Ringstrasse façade.

The boutique hotel comprises 62 exclusive units, 17 of which are suites. The spacious rooms start with the Classic Room up to the unique Opera Suite with 120 m2 and a balcony facing Vienna’s Ringstrasse.

The spa’s indoor pool boasts a glass roof that opens up during the warmer months. Not only does it allow a view of the starry sky above Vienna’s city center at night, but it also conveys a real outdoor flair.

Grand Ferdinand Hotel

Luxury Hotels in Vienna: Grand Ferdinand Hotel Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? To point it out, this is the most enticing opening of a traditional-style hotel in Wien in recent years. Housed in a landmarked building, this Ringstrasse temple blends grand Viennese style with amazingly tasteful design.

Expect a fresh twist on chandeliers, mirrors and marble bathrooms. Certainly the icing on that cake is Ferdinand’s stunning rooftop swimming pool overlooking Wien’s center. On top, if you love traditional Viennese cuisine, you can choose between Schnitzel heaven Meissl und Schadn and Hungarian gulash expert hub Gulash and Soehne.

Grand Hotel Wien

Vienna Hotels for Christmas: Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? Despite being among the grand legends on Ringstrasse boulevard, the Grand Hotel Wien is one of Vienna’s best value-for-money luxury hotels. Given all the recent renovations of other local luxury temples the Grand Hotel still lavishes in grand old style without much refurbishment.

Despite this, the place is charming, and the steam bath, sauna and massage rooms in good condition. Many local Viennese visit the Grand Hotel because of its famous restaurants Unkai (Japanese) and Le Ciel (French). If you are a group of eight or more, consider booking a gourmet Viennese cooking class at the hotel’s new Le Grand Chef cooking school.

DO & CO Hotel

DO & CO Hotel Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna? Unlike any other hotel in Wien, chic DO&CO mixes oriental style with design. Because it is located right next to St Stephen’s Cathedral the hotel’s large glass façade cleverly reflects the large church. What’s more, the member of Design Hotels™ is located in Vienna’s modern landmark Haas-Haus and boasts the flagship gourmet restaurant of DO & CO. For dinner and drinks, don’t miss the spectacular views of the Cathedral and the pedestrian area from Onyx Bar,a Viennese society spot.

Hotel Sans Souci

Luxury Hotels in Vienna: Sans Souci Why is it a good choice among luxury hotels in Vienna?Just as the Grand Ferdinand blends traditional luxury with fresh design, the Sans Souci focuses slightly more on the design element. Set in an amzingly refurbished 150-year old townhouse the Sans Souci mixes designer furniture with antiques and chandeliers. What I love most is the sophisticated purple, grey and beige colour scheme that connects the whole place.

If you lean towards a luxury experience just off the city center crowds you will like Sans Souci’s location between the arty 7th district, Museumsquartier and the historic center. The hotel’s 20 metre long swimming pool in the vaulted basement is hard to find elsewhere in town.
