Vienna New Years Concert: How To Get Tickets For 2025

Every year, on the first day of January, the Vienna New Year’s Concert blasts across millions of TV screens around the world. Since the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra started the concert in 1939 it has become a global phenomenon. Thousands of music lovers from all over the world make a pilgrimage to Vienna to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event. But obtaining tickets is tricky.

Clearly, the New Year’s Concert is more than just a musical performance. It is a celebration of Vienna’s rich cultural heritage and a tribute to the city’s love for music. From the sparkling waltzes of Johann Strauss II to the haunting melodies of Franz Schubert, the Vienna Philharmonics take the audience through a journey of classical music.

If you are a classical music fan, you’ll want more than watching this glorious event on TV. Here is what to do to see the New Year’s Concert 2025 live.

How To Get Vienna New Year’s Concert Tickets: Try The Ballots

Every year, the demand for Vienna New Year’s Concert tickets outstrips the number of available tickets in crazy dimensions. Therefore the Musikverein, home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, has introduced an online ticket drawing. This drawing includes all three concerts: the New Year’s Day Concert (what you see on TV) on 1st January, 11.15 am; the New Year’s Rehearsal on 30th December, 11.00 am; and the New Year’s Eve Concert on 31st December, 7.30 pm. You can register for the online drawing between 1st and 28th February 2024 for the New Year’s concert 2025 via the Vienna Philharmonics’ website. Notifications of winning applications were sent out in March.

Hunt Down Remaining Tickets

If the concert is sold out, you may be able to find tickets on secondary market sites. However, be careful of scams and make sure to purchase from a reputable source. For example, through trusted and legitimate third party sellers. Because sourcing those tickets is more work they are more expensive, but may help you fulfill a long cherished dream. To remove the risk and guesswork for you, I know of a third party ticket seller that can be trusted.

Specifically, they supply Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra tickets for the New Year’s Day concert, the New Year’s Eve Concert and the Preview Performance on 30th December. In general, the prices are within the standard range for third party tickets. What’s more, my ticket provider walks the extra mile to find those tickets for his clients, from corporates such as American Express, VISA, and Quintessentially to private clients from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and Chile to China.
