From German Language Courses In Vienna To Language Training tools

When you learn German, it will widen your travel experience in Europe (German is spoken by 100 million people there) and possibly your social and professional life.

This page is dedicated to my Portuguese husband. After a decade of being together with me, he has secretly picked up a lot of German words and phrases, has an incredibly cute Viennese accent and is about to thwart any confidential German conversation with my daughter. I am delighted! If he was a little more dedicated and picked from my pack of learn German books or learnt German in Vienna, he would be fluent now.

Learn German: Seven Reasons

If you are unsure about learning German, here are seven reasons for you to get familiar with the German language

  1. Congrats: As an English speaker you already have a head start. German, together with Dutch, is the language closest to English, as they share the same Germanic language roots.
  2. Succeed off the beaten track: not everyone at authentic local places in Vienna or other German speaking places speaks or understands English. Take your language guide and mingle with the natives!
  3. Soak up local culture: for Vienna this means, chat with Vienna sausage sellers, taxi drivers, your Bed and Breakfast hosts, shop owners, waiters, local event attendees and so on.
  4. Dust off your school German: you studied German grammar a while ago but can't speak? Bring your German skills back to life.
  5. Boost your kids' school German: send your kids to learn perfect German in a safe and sound environment like Vienna.
  6. Honour your Austrian ancestors: have you got Austrian roots? However far they reach, get a piece of them back and learn to speak in their tongue.
  7. Break the ice and get the deal: every German speaker's eyes brighten up when a non native makes an effort speaking their language. Knowing a few phrases and small talking in German can boost your professional relationships with German speakers.
